Cornwalls Cobalt Mine.
In February 1822, the West Briton newspaper reported that.... "The workings of Wheal Sparnon cobalt mine, which has been for some time suspended, from some repairs be ing necessary to the engine, &c, will, we understand be shortly resumed. The Cobalt Smelting Company are certainly entitled to every suppory from the public; as their mine is the only one in England where cobalt is found in abundance, and producing sp beautiful a clour; and as it renders us independent of foreigners for this article, which hitherto was supplied by them. We sincerely hope that after so much excertion and expense, the company will be amply rewarded; for the cobalt raised by them stands unrivalled by any other in the market, as can be attested by houses of the first respectability; viz. Messrs. Flight, Barr and Co., Messrs. Chamberlains. Messrs Spode and Co., and Messrs. Ralph Bourne and Co.
